If CCP wants to make money, stabilize the game. 1.8 is bringing sweeping changes and respecs are being discussed? The answer should have been an automatic yes. The idea of "choices matter" when everything is in flux and subject to drastic change holds no weight. The player base is essentially doing Quality Assurance, but being left holding the bag when things don't pan out. There is a bunch of noise on the forums, but there are people pulling for this game. For the most part players have warned CCP of impending imbalance, but it falls on deaf ears. It has been almost two years since I started Dust. We are just now getting racial suits (minus pilots) and still only two races' vehicles?
Outside of creating content, which takes awhile, there are things that should have been in the game. More militia weapons, at least rifles since they are all out now. Racial appropriate starter suits (after 1.8 drops). Restructure the convoluted skill tree (the vehicle tree is a good model). Ironically BPOs are the only reason I bought merc/aurum packs. Planetary Conquest has done more damage to the "economy" than BPOs have. If sales of packs have slowed down, it is simply lack of variety. With four races, there is a need to service all of them. I'd drop cash for a BPO of a combat rifle right now. Just look at the fervour over the templar gear. |

DUST contains a strong RPG aspect which adds a distinct uniqueness to the game. You need to be conscious of your descisions in skills because you can`t guarantee that you`ll have the chance to pick them over again. I think it adds a sense of depth and challenge which I welcome.
Would I have preferred to know when racial sidearms were dropping?... It would have let me save massive SP. Am I upset that I have SP dumped into another sidearm? No, it was a chance to try another weapon and I chock it up to learning.
We don't get respecs in life.
No, we don't get respecs in life. By the same token if I buy a car today, it will remain the same car. It won't suddenly be a different car with the same name. 'Respecs' are simply refunds. We spend a time/action earned currency (skill points) on character enhancements. I, like most people, have spec into things simply because there was no other option (one 'assault' rifle, one heavy suit). I would be fine with permanent decisions, if all the base choices were present. |
